Calculate Standard Minute Value for a Garment

Calculate S.M.V for a Garment

Following formula is very important to start & solve a problem

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Basic time= (Observed Rating * Observed Time)/Standard Rating
Standard Rating considered as 100%

S.M.V= Basic time + All Allowance
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Now I hope to explain this method using suitable question.

Relaxation allowance =15%
Machine attention allowance=10%

( (a)    Calculate the standard minute value for one garment.

( (b)   If the average line efficiency is 90%, how many garments would be expected to complete in this line within an 8 hours working shift?

OK! Now I Hope To Solve This Question One By One…

(a)

First we must find basic time per cycle

Example No:1

= [(95*0.18)/100]*(1/10)
= 0.0171
Example No:2

= [(100*0.8)/100]*(1/1)

You can repeat it until No 8

After Count total value of basic time per cycle.

=2.4346

And, count machine operation join basic time per cycle. (Here it can be taken No3 and No6)

 =2.108

Now you can add machine attention allowance

=2.108*10/100
=0.2108

Add total basic time per cycle
=0.2108 + 2.4346
=2.6454

Add relaxation allowances
=2.6454*15/100
=0.39681

S.M.V = Basic Time + All Allowance

=2.6454 + 0.39681
=3.04221

S.M.V = 3.04

(b)

Number of garments = Time Duration/S.M.V

= (1*60*8)/3.04221
=157.780
This value is 100% efficiency. But we need 90% efficiency output value
=[(157.780)/100]*90
=142.0020

Garments =142

Having studied this article you will be able to understand how to calculate S.M.V for a garment.
