Knitted Fabric Quality Parameters
In
the quality controlling process of knitted fabric it is compulsory to consider
knitted garments quality parameters. Because these parameters are always affect
to change the quality of garment. In the manufacturing process of knitted
garments we can identify basic knitted fabric parameters.

Strength
and extensibility
To
increase strength and extensibility manufacturer use high strength yarns and
when yarn manufacturing use matured fibers. After producing yarn test strength
of yarn, twist level of yarn and after producing launch fabric strength test using
cut stripe method or revel strip method or grab method in testing lab.
Course
density
In
the course density test will check how many courses available in the one inch (CPI)
or how many courses available in the one meter (CPM).
Wales
density
In
the wales density test will check how many wales available in the one inch (WPI)
or how many wales available in the one meter (WPM).
Loop
length
If
fabric tension too tight then loops length is low .So, fabric stretchability
will very low. If fabric tension too loose then loop length is high. Tension of
fabric directly affect for appearance of garment. Therefore tension of fabric
always should be checked to obtain high quality of knitted garment.
Elasticity
Fabric
elasticity is also very important parameter. Elasticity may be changed
according to yarn type, knitting structure and fabric tension. If used lycra spandex
yarn to produce fabric then elasticity will high. And also rib structures have
higher elasticity and interlock structures have less elasticity. Elasticity is
very important to keep body configure of body fitted garments.
Deformation
In
the deformation, elasticity of fabric may be changed. Therefore in the
mechanical deformation process standards adjustment are very important.
G.S.M
value
In
the fabric checking, quality controllers calculate grams per square meter of
fabric. Because of company spend lot of money for raw materials. In this test
calculate whether fabric have low amount or excessive mount o weight in
material handling.
Yarn
count
In
the yarn count factory launch direct or indirect systems. Commonly use Tex
values of direct system.In this method find how many grams in 1000 meter.
Yarn
twist
Yarn
twist enhances strength of fabric. In the twist operation can be done Z-twist
or S-twist. But too tight yarn twist may reduce dye absorbency.
