Quality Management for Knitted Garment

Quality control systems are used to achieve high knitted garment quality

In the apparel industry knitted garments are produced highly. Because high demand of consumer. But not only woven, knitted panels or knitted garments have higher damage percentage that damages can be identified as needle lines, tension lines, colour shade changes, dimensional changes, dirty marks, tension loose or tight, ladder damages, incorrect patterns and row lines, holes etc. Therefore in the manufacturing production will loss. To reduce or eliminate garment faults in the industry use several methods.

·        Quality control
·        Quality assurance
·        Total quality management (TQM)

Quality control

In this method check quality after producing pieces or garments. This is considered as conventional method and not preventive action process.

Quality assurance

In this method, before produce garments or pieces plan to reduce or eliminate damages. This method is considered as preventive action based process.QA focus on quality manuals, system certification, quality cost and documentation. However today we can see QC and QA based or mixed several quality inspection methods.

System
Procedure
In progress system
In this process garments are checked and controlled through the manufacturing process.
Final inspection
In this method check finished garments only.
Centralized inspection
This process done with centralized area. For an example all knitted bundle checking in a centralized table can be given.
Patrol inspection
In this system quality supervisors (not quality controllers) randomly check pieces.

Total quality management (TQM)

All above QC and QA systems are only based on production process. But in this total quality management process focus on production, sales and marketing, delivery or shipping, labour efficiency and all production support services. The main objectives of total quality management process focus on 100% customer satisfaction and zero defects. I think total quality management process very important to obtain high quality knitted garments. Apart TQM can be used ISO, BS, ASTM, and DIN standards for quality testing.
