Relaxation Shrinkage of Fabric
Relaxation Shrinkage of Fabric
Relaxation shrinkage will occur as a result the fibers and yarns
are under pressure and tension when fabric are produced using knitting or
weaving .After laundering ,washing ,dyeing ,boiling and cooling process that dimensional
changes can be seen. I think relaxation shrinkage mostly can be seen on knitted
fabric than woven. Therefore I can further explain this topic using knitted
fabric relaxation process.
· Dry relaxed state - This state reached when the fabric after an enough time being removed from the flat or circular
bed knitting machine.
·
Wet relaxed state - This state can be seen knitted fabric after it had been soaked in
static, cold and after well dried in flat state.
·
Finished relaxed state
- In this state, firstly soaked with
normal water or steam with mix or launches process static water at 90 Celsius.
After well dry fabric in flat state.
·
Fully relaxed state - Under this process fabric will be fully relaxed. In this process
soaking fabric with water at 40 Celsius about one day and follow with hydro
extraction and launch tumble drying about one hour with 70-75 Celsius.
After relaxation shrinkage process we can see clearly changed
measurement of knitted fabric. Woven fabric also has relaxation shrinkage but
less than knitted fabrics. Therefore relaxation shrinkage also consider as very
important fabric property.
