Ticket Number of Yarn

How to calculate ticket number of sewing thread or yarn.
Yarn Calculations

When we consider sewing thread the ticket number is very important. Because it is useful to get an idea about linear density. The ticket number can be calculated as.

Ticket Number = Resultant metric count[Nm] *3

Here we above multiplied by 3. Because generally we assume sewing thread made of three plies. But some times thread equated as.

(Metric Count) Nm/ number of plies

Now we look this theory with suitable question

Q. Proof the following statement:
"Yarn packages with 60s (60/2Nm) yarn and 30s (30/1Nm)" indicate the same ticket number and state any assumptions/ you made to proof it.

Nm/ number of plies

According to this question
60/2 Nm

Here the metric count denoted by 60 and ply number denoted by 2 . According to the 3 ply assumption we can calculate the ticket number.
= (60/2)*3
= 90

The next value is 30/1 Nm. Here metric count is 30 and number of plies 01. So, we can calculate ticket number as.

= (30/1)*3
= 90

Finally we can predicate (60/2 Nm) and (30/1 Nm) that two types of thread have same ticket number. To read more textile and clothing articles click on Textile label.

Additional information

Ticket Number of Sewing Thread is very important property because it is basically affect to various factors such as strength and stability, flexibility, dye absorption, aesthetic properties etc. If thread doesn't have proper ticket number so, quality of thread will be reduced. And out put garment will low quality. Hence, before manufacturing process of garments, quality testing of sewing threads and any other raw materials are compulsory.
