Strength of Plain Woven Fabric
Plain weave fabrics have higher strength due to higher intermingle points but it has regular cross over design and it is uniform hence tearing strength very low. In fabric retailers and manufactures tear plain fabrics without cutting to separate two or more pieces. But satin and sateen weaves have irregular and non- uniform intermingle points (cross - interlacing points) are difficult to tear when tearing test hence higher tearing strength of satin and sateen weave can be seen.
